Parking signs refer to signs used to warn other vehicles not to overtake school buses that have been parked and are waiting for students to get on and off. The school bus parking arm plays an important role in ensuring the safety of the school bus. The stopping arm is located in a prominent position in front of the school bus, and the “STOP” sign is printed in the box. The national standard production technology and installation requirements for school bus parking signs require that the school bus parking arm must be installed on the left side of the school bus and placed perpendicular to the school bus body when it is deployed. Its upper edge is parallel to the lower edge of the first passenger window frame behind the driver by 6 inches (15 centimeters), and the distance from one side of the school bus to the vertical center of the parking arm cannot exceed 9 inches (23 centimeters). A single arm stop signal is necessary, and a second stop arm can also be installed. The second stop arm is usually installed at the back of the school bus and does not assume the function of “STOP” or any other aspect when it is set. Technical requirements for school bus parking signs: 1. The color, shape, characters, and outer circle diameter of school bus parking signs should be 500mm or 450mm, with a white edge width of 20mm. The surface should not have sharp protrusions or corners that may cause injury. 2. The two sides of the parking sign should be consistent, and the retroreflective material used should comply with the requirements of Class II or Class I reflective film specified in GB/T18833. 3. When applying a force of 50N along the tangent of the rotation trajectory on the outer edge of the parking sign, the parking sign should rotate in the direction of the applied force. When rotating parallel to the vehicle, the parking sign should stop rotating; After the external force is eliminated, it should be possible to return the parking sign to its normal position through electric or manual operation. 4.If the parking sign is damaged or the control system fails, it can be manually returned to the stowed position. 5. The extension or retraction time of the parking sign should not exceed 10 seconds. Control requirements for school bus parking signs: 1. The extension and retraction of school bus parking signs are controlled by the driver through manual or foot movements, and the operating mechanism should be located within reach of the driver when sitting in the driver’s seat. When the parking sign is extended, it should be able to alert the driver through visual or auditory signals. 2.If the parking sign is not retracted when the vehicle starts, it should be able to retract automatically when the speed exceeds 5km/h. Installation requirements for school bus parking signs A parking sign should be installed on the left side of the vehicle. When the parking sign is extended, it should be in the following positions: 1. Perpendicular to the side of the vehicle, with an installation tolerance of ± 5 °; 2. The upper edge of the parking sign is parallel to and located below the horizontal plane tangent to the lower edge of the passenger window behind the driver, and is not more than 150mm apart. The longitudinal installation position of the parking sign should be within the area that the driver can observe; 3.When the parking arm of the school bus is extended, its outer edge shall not be more than 610mm from the contact point between the vehicle and the parking sign installation; 4.When the parking sign is folded up, its outer edge should be no more than 160mm away from the contact point between the vehicle and the parking sign installation, and should be folded up towards the rear of the vehicle.
